7:45 a.m. update: Camps will continue as scheduled

Members of the UW-Green Bay community are asked to assure the general public that all University programs including summer camp offerings remain on schedule today (Thursday, June 25). Mona Christensen, coordinator of summer camps, says the nearly 500 young people staying in campus housing this week were housed in residence halls some distance from the fire in Building 109. Those halls nearest the fire, however, were evacuated, as a precaution, with occupants moving to the centrally located Community Center. There, all campers were accounted for. (Christensen says most campers, with cell phones, contacted their parents immediately to assure them they were fine.) Among the teen-agers on campus this week are participants in the state music association honors camp, the pre-college Upward Bound program and Summer Art Studio.
