Save the date for “Trauma-Informed Care” workshop on Tuesday, Jan. 16, from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Christie Theatre. Watch your email for a registration link. “Many of our students, colleagues, family, and friends have faced trauma and adverse childhood experiences. Trauma Informed Care (TIC) is an evidence-informed approach that promotes healthy and compassionate relationships with those we come in contact. The ability to transform our thinking around the adverse experiences that others face allows us to act in a manner that will enhance the well-being of others. This training will reinforce common humanistic principles (ex. Treat others as you would want to be treated), but it will also teach you about the effects of trauma and adverse childhood experiences, techniques to become a trauma-informed professional, and how to implement TIC in various work areas and in your personal life. Faculty and staff are encouraged to attend this powerful workshop.” Questions can be directed to ASPDPC chair Laura Delikowski, at delikowl@uwgb.edu, or USPDC chair Teri Ternes at ternest@uwgb.edu. The workshop is presented by Dana Johnson (Social Work), lecturer and child welfare coordinator. It is sponsored jointly by the Academic Staff Professional Development Programming Committee and the University Staff Professional Development Committee.
