Radio raves: Top alumni share praise of UW-Green Bay

UW-Green Bay’s graduates have great stories to tell about their UW-Green Bay experience. That’s the premise behind a new regional radio campaign.

“We want our region to be certain that UW-Green Bay does a great job preparing their students,” says Jennifer Jones, Admissions Assistant Director. “Who better to tell that story than our successful alumni?”

Rob Cera, CEO of Baylake Bank, was one of the proud graduates who took time out from busy schedules (he oversees 28 financial centers) to make a special trip to the radio station and record a message about his UW-Green Bay experience.

“I believe that UW-Green Bay did an outstanding job creating a curriculum and class offering that was tailored to my career desires,” Cera explained. “The atmosphere and culture at the University is truly centered around the needs of the student. The faculty was first rate and did a fantastic job of preparing me for a professional career in the business world. It is fun and rewarding for me to be involved with University leadership at a high level as they continue on their “Growth Agenda” journey.

Jones, who says the radio ads are part of a larger marketing campaign, is receiving plenty of encouraging feedback…

“People are proud of their local University and think it’s great to hear that alums believe, and want to share with others, that their education helped get them where they are today in their careers.”

Cera’s banking and finance career previous to Baylake included service as president of the Chicago Region of Associated Bank, president and COO of State Financial Services Corporation (northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin), and senior vice president with Bando McGlocklin Small Business Investment Corporation.

The 1984 graduate takes seriously the commitment to his alma mater. He’s a Founders Association Executive Committee member, a sponsor of the annual Alumni Association Golf Outing, a regular contributor to the Founders Association for student scholarships and University enhancements, and just recently, his organization provided a Door County reception for friends and donors of the University.

Also taking part in the radio campaign was Mary Frank, the Community Relations Specialist for Wisconsin Public Service, and James Radish, a social studies teacher at Bay Port High School.
