Phoenix vs. Badgers – Don't miss it!

volleyball2webIt doesn’t seem to matter what sport… when the Wisconsin Badgers are in town, the stakes are elevated and so is the fun.

At 7 p.m. on Wednesday, September 16, the Phoenix volleyball team will host the Badgers in a first-ever meeting at the Kress Events Center and the two teams’ first meeting since 2000. Despite playing eight times over the years, it is only the second-ever visit to Green Bay for the Badgers.

“We really hope to create an electric atmosphere in the Kress Center on September 16,” said UW-Green Bay Coach Debbie Kirch. “Our Horizon League schedule is always competitive, but this is a unique opportunity for us to host a Big Ten, in-state opponent. We really want to make the most of it.”

UW-Madison is the third team from a major conference on Green Bay’s schedule this year. The Phoenix took unbeaten Iowa to the wire this past weekend (24-26, 21-25, 23-25) before falling 0-3, and plays host to Syracuse at home on Sunday Oct. 25 at noon.

Green Bay opens its league slate Sept. 19 with a three-game road stretch against conference opponents, beginning with Loyola. The Phoenix then returns to the Kress Center Sept. 25 for its Horizon League home opener against Milwaukee, followed by another home contest with Youngstown State Oct. 3.
