Eagle Herald Extra mentions UW-Green Bay in fate of former hospital building
Some developers have looked at the former Bay Area Medical Center on Shore Drive, Marinette, but its future has not been determined, the Marinette County Board of Supervisors was told Tuesday. Hospital administrator Ed Harding said when the City of Marinette agreed to annex the 90 acres for the new facility, “they said ‘sure, but what we don’t want is the prior facility to sit vacant.’ So we agreed that if after five years it’s vacant, we’ll tear it down,” he explained. “The main part of that facility was built in 1939 and we all know that we’ve added onto that building.” Options are being explored. “Harding said he’d love to see the adjacent UW-Green Bay, Marinette Campus, decide to use a portion of the building for student housing.” Read the story by the Eagle Herald Extra.
