Student Lautenslager shares fishing derby success

The Log shared a few weeks ago about Bellin/UW-Green Bay student Tim Lautenslager’s plan to host a fishing derby for his friend who is fighting melanoma. Lautenslager shared some good news this week: “When I started this I thought 30 boats was a realistic number, 40 was a dream. We ended up registering 57 boats! Amazing the support we saw as well from the community. Donations rolled in and we had more than 100 donations to raffle off. I was hoping to make about $10,000-15,000 for Jordan. We ended up raising over $31,000! It was an amazing turn out as more than 400 people showed up show their support. It was an emotional night, but I am so thankful for everyone’s support — UWGB included. I could not have done this alone, and the help and support from other is what made this a community event. I am excited to say next year we are doing this again with money going to melanoma research. I am very excited to keep this event a part of my life until I can no longer do it. I cant wait till I see the 25th and 40th annual Jordan Olson Musky Derby! Thanks again.”
