Registration open for fall UW-Green Bay Learning in Retirement courses
Retirees may register for the fall semester of Learning in Retirement (LIR), a program of the Division of Outreach and Adult Access at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay.
Courses are offered on the UW-Green Bay campus, 2420 Nicolet Drive, and at various locations throughout the Green Bay area. Topic categories include art and music; business and finance; health and fitness; history and religion; language and culture; literature and writing; science and technology; and special topics.
Openings remain in many of the 136 LIR courses that are offered for fall semester, with the first classes beginning Tuesday, Sept. 4 and others following throughout the course of the semester. Learning in Retirement at UW-Green Bay celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2011, and more than 1,000 enrolled members took courses during the 2011-12 academic year. LIR has been lauded as a model program for retired adults, and in 2012 was featured in a New York Times article titled “Exercising an Aging Brain.” A program of the UW-Green Bay Division of Outreach and Adult Access, LIR is led and directed by more than 200 volunteers who serve in a variety of leadership and support roles.
