UW-Green Bay celebrates completion of new $38 million residence hall | WFRV

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay held a dedication ceremony on Tuesday to celebrate the opening of Cort Condon Hall, the newest residence hall on campus.

Cort Condon Hall honors Gerald C. “Cort” Condon Jr., Chairman of the Board, University Village Housing, Inc. University officials say Condon was instrumental in designing and building the $38 million privately funded project planned to serve the students of UW-Green Bay specifically.

The addition of Cort Condon Hall follows years of growth in enrollment and academic and extra-curricular offerings at UW-Green Bay. This latest expansion is the university’s largest and first new residence hall in over 12 years.

“Cort Condon Hall represents the tremendous momentum we have as an institution,” UW-Green Bay Chancellor Michael Alexander said. “Over the past four years, we have experienced 17.4% enrollment growth. Our students deserve the very best as an access institution, and this residence hall reflects the amazing work they are doing.”

Home to 200 students, the residence hall was specially designed for second-year students to increase social and cultural opportunities, foster common-interest learning communities, and support degree attainment.

Cort Condon Hall offers two- and four-person shared-bedroom apartments with various shared collaboration and recreation spaces.

“The residence halls that we’ve helped build, most notably Cort Condon Hall, were designed with students in mind to be unique, affordable, and accessible,” said Keith Pamperin, University Village Housing Board member. “This would not have happened without Cort’s commitment.”

Cort Condon Hall is the latest strategic investment in UW-Green Bay’s on-campus housing to enhance the educational and community experience at every stage of a student’s university journey.

In recent years, intentional financial investment has been made to update and renovate many campus housing buildings. The new residence hall will allow students to live in housing with the latest technology, student furnishings, and sustainable facility upgrades.
