Governor’s Emergency Order #5 and Effect on UW-Green Bay building hours

On Monday, March 17, 2020 Governor Tony Evers issued Emergency Order #5, which prohibited the gatherings of more than 10 people. Please note, that this does not prevent more than 10 people being in a single building at the same time, nor does it compel the closure of any place of business. Under the directive, a “mass gathering” is any planned or spontaneous, public or private event or convening that will bring together or is likely to bring together 10 or more people in a single room or single confined exposed place. Consistent with prior information provided by UW-Green Bay, any meetings or other gathering of more than 10 people which are necessary for conducting business should be held via remote method. The Emergency Order gives further guidance that if a gathering of less than 10 people must be held, it should be done in a way that allows for social distancing (not less than 6 feet between participants) and follow all sanitation recommendations made by the Wisconsin Department of Health Services.

The Emergency Order does address educational institutions, which are closed for instruction until further notice. Please note that this is a decree to the public, and does not close the campus for business, but prohibits members of the public from accessing buildings or resources. All campuses are closed to the public under Emergency Order #5.

Consistent with this directive, the UW-Green Bay Building Hours and Access Policy is suspended and moving forward campus building hours will be amended as follows:

Green Bay Campus: Building access will be limited to 6 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on weekdays, and will not be open on Saturday or Sunday. Individuals in buildings at 6:30 p.m. will be asked to leave no later than 7 p.m. Please note this restriction applies to all students, faculty and staff. This restriction excludes Residence Life Community Spaces and the First Floor of the Union, which shall establish their own hours and post accordingly.
