The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel took a close look at the Phoenix basketball teams Monday (Nov. 9) and concluded that women’s coach Matt Bollant will have a squad that is bigger and more athletic than the team that went to the NCAA tournament last year. While the Phoenix lost four starters to graduation, it will be favored to repeat as Horizon League champions. Journal Sentinel sportswriters say Butler University is the clear favorite to repeat as men’s conference champions, and the Phoenix will rely on a veteran backcourt and some talented freshmen if it is going to match last season’s second place finish.
