Phoenix squads win final tune-up games

The UW-Green Bay women’s and men’s basketball teams were in action Saturday (Nov. 7) at the Kress Events Center, both squads notching victories in their final exhibition games before the start of the regular season.

In afternoon action the Phoenix women stifled the UW-Parkside offense and claimed an impressive 78-46 victory over their Division II opponent. An account of that game can be found in the Press-Gazette.

In the evening in their first-ever contest at the Kress the men’s team outlasted a stubborn St. Norbert College squad, 71-54. The Phoenix jumped out to a 15-point lead then saw the pesky Green Knights whittle the margin to just four points. But the Phoenix pulled away in the second half to win by a comfortable margin.
