Alumna, revered Elder and Oneida Language champion Hinton dies at 103

The UW-Green Bay community shares in the loss of Maria Hinton, 103, a revered Oneida Tribal Elder and 1979 UW-Green Bay graduate who passed away Sunday, July 28, 2013. Mrs. Hinton was known nationally for helping preserve Oneida stories, language and culture. She is believed to be the last individual in Wisconsin who learned Oneida as a first language.
