UW-Green Bay to debut ‘Kevin Borseth Way’ in honor of retiring women’s basketball coach

GREEN BAY (WLUK) — Longtime Green Bay women’s basketball coach Kevin Borseth called it a career after more than 20 seasons with the Phoenix, but university leaders are making sure his legacy won’t be forgotten.

UW-Green Bay will update its campus maps Tuesday with the unveiling of “Kevin Borseth Way” near the Kress Events Center. Borseth announced his retirement earlier this month.

Borseth will deliver remarks at the 12 p.m. ceremony, along with Chancellor Michael Alexander and Director of Athletics Josh Moon. Faculty, staff, students and the Green Bay community are invited to attend.

Borseth’s head coaching career spanned five decades, beginning with stints at the junior college and NCAA Division II levels. He went on to coach 37 seasons as a Division I head coach, 21 of those seasons in Green Bay (1998-2007 and 2012-2023.)

Borseth ranks 16th all-time among NCAA Division I women’s basketball coaches with 821 total wins. Last season, he achieved his 500th win as head coach of the Phoenix. He leaves Green Bay with a 509-146 overall record.

With Borseth at the helm, the Phoenix won 16 regular season titles and 14 conference tournament championships and appeared in the NCAA Tournament 13 times.
