SBDC at UW-Green Bay among partners to present March 26 crowdfunding panel
The Small Business Development Center at UW-Green Bay is among the partners that will present “Crowdfunding Rules and Regulations,” part of the Innovation Series of the Advance Business and Manufacturing Center, from 7:30-9 a.m. Wednesday, March 26 at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College, 2740 W. Mason St., Green Bay.
Geared toward entrepreneurs, attorneys, financial advisors and potential investors, this panel discussion event will explore the fact that Wisconsin is one of the first states in the nation to allow a company to raise capital by selling small ownership shares to many investors. In addition, panelists will discuss how the Securities and Exchange Commission currently is gathering feedback on federal crowdfunding guidelines, new rules expected to create innovative financial opportunities for start-ups, especially those focused on non-technology based ventures.
Panelists for the event are Patricia Struck, administrator of the Securities Division of the Wisconsin Department of Financial Institutions; David Dupee, founder and CEO of CraftFund LLC; and Elizabeth Chandler, attorney in the Securities Practice Group at Godfrey & Kahn S.C. The event will begin with breakfast and networking at 7:30 a.m., with the panel discussion kicking off at 8 a.m.
The cost for the event is $10 per person, which can be paid in advance or at the door. Space is limited, so attendees are encouraged to register at events.titletown.org by March 21. The event will be held in the Student Center at NWTC, Room SC128, and attendees are asked to park in Lot F. The $10 cost includes a continental breakfast.
The crowdfunding panel event is sponsored by Godfrey & Kahn, and also presented by Advance (a program of the Green Bay Area Chamber of Commerce), the Small Business Center at UW-Green Bay, SCORE and the Entrepreneur Resource Center at NWTC.
