Students in military get ‘thanks’ from campus

The Vets 4 Vets Club at UW-Green Bay spent a recent mid-December evening bundling up “care packages” to ship to UW-Green Bay students on active duty with the armed forces.

The club placed a collection box in the Registrar’s Office and took the lead in soliciting donations campuswide from students, faculty and staff. Gift cards, phone cards, candy, gum, snacks, sporting goods and the like were bundled up with letters and cards for shipment. Elaina Koltz in the Registrar’s Office notes that the project has become something of a holiday tradition in recent years. She has received cards and photos from appreciative soldiers serving in Iraq and elsewhere.
