Friday’s (April 27) Big Day Bird Survey was a big success for our resident ornithologists (and wannabes), who identified 56 species of birds on campus during a 17-hour period. Spearheaded by the Cofrin Center for Biodiversity, the event enlisted the assistance of Facebook to compile the identified species of birds. The 50th bird species spotted was a blue-gray gnatcatcher, which we’re told is the first of the year on campus. From gadwall to ruddy duck, from bald eagle to redhead, from American robin to Canada goose, from lesser scaup to greater scaup, it was a good day. For a complete list, click here.
