Adult degree mom, daughter featured in ‘Press-Gazette’ Mother’s Day story

Two UW-Green Bay students — one a soon-to-be grad — were featured in Sunday’s (May 12) Green Bay Press-Gazette, part of the newspaper’s Mother’s Day coverage. Adult Degree Program students Joan Jarvi, 61, and her daughter, 42-year-old Erika Koester, have helped each other through their respective returns to school and have even taken a few courses together. Jarvi is finishing her degree in Interdisciplinary Studies (Art emphasis) this semester, while Koester is attending part-time and likely will graduate in a few years. Both have taken classes mostly online, and they’ve enjoyed having someone who understands the challenges — and successes — of going back to school. Full story.
