Faculty note: Lockard earns high honor

During the World History Association annual conference, held in Boston in June, Craig Lockard (SCD and History Emeritus) was awarded the organization’s highest honor, the Pioneer of World History award, for his long record of published scholarship and service to the WHA. He helped found the organization in 1982, served as the group’s first secretary, was a member of the executive council for several terms, and contributed as an editor or on the editorial boards of three world history journals. Among his various books and many articles in the field are a textbook, Societies, Networks, and Transitions: A Global History (now in its 3rd edition), and Southeast Asia in World History (Oxford University Press, 2009).
