Glen Tilot named UW-Green Bay’s 2010 Recruitment Partner of the Year

The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay has named Glen Tilot, from the Brown County Human Services Department, as its 2010 Recruitment Partner of the Year.

Tilot, a 1981 social work graduate of UW-Green Bay, received the award during a reception on Wednesday, Nov. 3 at the University Union.

“Glen has been a valued partner of UW-Green Bay for many years,” said Linda Peacock-Landrum, director of Career Services at UW-Green Bay. “Glen has been committed to providing experiences for students, as well as serving as a valuable mentor, referral and network for UW-Green Bay students and alumni.“

During the past 25 years, Tilot has personally supervised more than 75 student interns and volunteers. The students come from a variety of academic programs including Human Development, Social Work and Psychology.

“Glen is such a great person, and he is someone who I look up to as one of my mentors,” said 1996 graduate Jody Weyers, volunteer and communications director for the American Red Cross Lakeland Chapter. “I thank him for his leadership, advice and friendship over the years and he has helped me become a leader in the field of volunteer management.”

“I thoroughly enjoyed interning for him,” added former intern and 2009 graduate Laurel Yelton. “He is such a kind, patient man who I truly admire.  Because he loves the work that he does, he makes you want to join him in making a difference in people’s lives.”

“Glen recognizes the benefit hands-on experience can have on students,” former intern and 2007 graduate Amanda Kabat said. “I recall helping out with the PALs Program and asking to also sit in on meetings in other departments to get a more broad understanding of all the departments in Human Services. Glen went above and beyond talking with his colleagues and finding as many opportunities as he could for me to gain new experiences.”

Tilot is the first individual to be named Recruitment Partner of the Year by UW-Green Bay. Previous recipients include Integrys (2007), Schenck Business Solutions (2008) and the Arthritis Foundation, NE Chapter (2009).
