Grants luncheon brings faculty, staff together for celebration of scholarship
UW-Green Bay celebrated scholarship Friday (Nov. 16) during a luncheon designed to recognize faculty and staff grant recipients and their research.
About 70 faculty and staff members attended the gathering, designed to both acknowledge previous grants and encourage application for new ones. The Office of the Provost hosted the event, with Provost Julia Wallace welcoming attendees. She read a greeting from Chancellor Tom Harden, who was out of town on University business, which praised the recipients’ efforts and acknowledged the importance of grant-funded research.
“I am struck by the breadth and depth of your success in attracting external support for critical research and programming,” Harden said in his statement. “Your efforts benefit our students, our community, and the larger cause of ‘knowledge creation’ — each and every day.”
UW-Green Bay faculty and staff receive a variety of grants, from small, local awards to larger, national-level funding. Grants and recipients from across that spectrum were highlighted in a video shown at the event, and also through a panel discussion designed to offer information and advice. Faculty and staff members John Katers, Alma Rodriguez Estrada, Jolanda Sallmann and Mona Christensen served as panelists.
