Demonstrating that there truly is something for everyone, Spring 2017 OrgSmorg was held Feb. 1 in the Phoenix Room, University Union. Student “orgs” are committed to community service, diversity, science, math, music, art, sports and fun. If a UW-Green Bay student can’t find a great fit, he or she is encouraged to grab a couple of friends, and create an org of their own. See what orgs were represented in this year’s themed event, “Phoenix Fest.”

Org Smorg is Wednesday

Here’s a reminder that the spring-semester Org Smorg is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday (Feb. 4) in the Union’s Phoenix Room. Representatives from many of UW-Green Bay’s roughly 100 registered student organizations will be staffing booths to give their fellow students (and employees) a look at the great variety of student clubs ranging from career-related professional organizations to groups based on shared adventures, hobbies or community causes. All are welcome.

UW-Green Bay students find an 'org' smorgasbord

What do UW-Green Bay students do after hours? Well, there’s the obvious — games and online communities, work, fitness activities and study, of course. And student organizations. Student Life officials estimate that about half of the student body population participates in at least one student organization. Continue reading “UW-Green Bay students find an 'org' smorgasbord”

It’s mid-semester and there is always something happening at UW-Green Bay. Student photographer Lindsey Przybelski captured some of the action including the annual OrgSmorg; the always entertaining Hypnotist Jim Wand; Spirit Week activities including T-shirt decorating at the Phoenix Bookstore; and the current exhibit at the Lawton Gallery, “Decked: Three Decades of Skateboard Decks.” See photo gallery.

New student organization brings cancer fight to campus

Colleges Against Cancer (CAC) gives students the opportunity to bring the fight against cancer to campus while receiving support and guidance from the local American Cancer Society office. With more than 300 chapters nationwide, thousands of college students are making an impact on their campuses and surrounding communities. Dayna Keranen, community relations representative with the American Cancer Society,  will be at Org Smorg from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21 in the Phoenix Rooms. She is also interested in connecting with faculty or staff who might be interested in serving as the group’s adviser. If you would like to learn more and are not able to attend Org Smorg, feel free to contact Dayna at dayna.keranen@cancer.org or at (920) 321-1368.
