Green Bay Nordic skiing, swimming and diving seasons come to a close

The Green Bay Nordic skiing, along with the swimming and diving seasons, are officially over. The Nordic ski team competed at the Central Regionals in Ishpeming, Michigan on Saturday, Feb. 22 and Sunday, Feb. 23, 2020. UW-Green Bay freshman Lara Ketterer was the first Green Bay nordic skier to cross the finish line, finishing 11th overall and qualifying for the NCAA Championships in Bozeman, Montana from Wednesday, March 11 through Saturday, March 14.

The swimming and diving team finished their season last weekend. The men’s team came in fifth overall, while the women’s team finished sixth overall. Junior Max Boehnlein won the 200 breaststroke individual championship, while junior Anna Liu (100 freestyle), junior Ben Redman (100 freestyle) and senior Riley Darling (200 butterfly) all were runner-ups in their competitions.


Green Bay teams fight for top Horizon League positioning; Nordic skiers compete at regionals

With just over a month before March Madness begins, Green Bay men’s and women’s basketball is looking to get into the Big Dance this year. The Phoenix men have won six of their last nine games, all against conference opponents. The team has also shown an ability to win close games, with all six of those wins being by six points or less. The team returns home Thursday, Feb. 27 against Youngstown State at 7 p.m. at the Resch Center.

The Green Bay women’s basketball team has won seven of its last nine games heading into this weekend’s action on the road. The team faces conference-leading IUPUI on Sunday before returning home for a 1 p.m. game on Thursday at the Kress Center.┬áBoth Green Bay hoops teams play their regular season finale during UW-Green Bay’s Homecoming Week as part of the Krash the Kress event on Saturday, Feb. 29. The women’s basketball team hosts Youngstown State at 2 p.m., while the men’s basketball team hosts Cleveland State at 7 p.m. Both games are at the Kress Center and will also serve as Senior Night.

Nordic skiing competes at the Central Regionals in Ishpeming, Michigan on Saturday, Feb. 22 and Sunday, Feb. 23.

Winter sports are in full swing: Green Bay Athletics update

The Green Bay men’s basketball team is currently 3-7, returning home on Saturday, Dec. 14, 2019 to host Evansville at the Resch Center at 6 p.m. This is also Bud Light Night, featuring $10 Zone B tickets and wiener dog races. This game can also be seen on ESPN+.

The Green Bay women’s basketball team is currently 5-4 and travels to Bangor on Friday, Dec. 13 to play Maine. This game can be seen on ESPN3. The Phoenix has hung-on to a winning record despite being plagued by injuries and playing one of the toughest preseason schedules in program history. An early-season highlight was an upset of nationally ranked Syracuse during the team’s final game of the Victoria Invitational in Victoria, British Columbia.

The Phoenix men’s and women’s Nordic ski team begins its 2019-2020 campaign this weekend in Duluth at the Duluth CXC Cup.

The Green Bay men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams competed at a USA Swimming event in Atlanta featuring many teams from across the country, as well as members of the USA Olympic swimming team. The team will host Northern Michigan on Saturday, Jan. 11, 2020 at 2 p.m.
