UW System Board of Regents Approves Reorganization of UW-Marinette, UW-Manitowoc and UW-Sheboygan with UW-Green Bay

GREEN BAY –The UW System Board of Regents today approved the proposal by President Cross to realign the UW Colleges with UW System four-year universities. Under the plan, UW-Marinette, UW-Manitowoc and UW-Sheboygan will join UW-Green Bay in July 2018.

“We are extremely excited to have the opportunity to join with our colleagues in Marinette, Manitowoc and Sheboygan to create a dynamic, innovative multi-campus university on the move,” noted UW-Green Bay Chancellor Gary L. Miller following the vote. “We share a common set of values and aspirations for this region. We are committed to access to higher education, student success, economic development and the commonwealth good. All of us at UW-Green Bay look forward to learning more about our partners on these great campuses and in these important Wisconsin communities.”

With the Regents’ approval, focus now turns to planning and integration, including campus visits and meetings with members of each County’s Board of Supervisors, College Foundation Leaders and municipal leaders in each community to begin the transition process. Public town halls will also likely be held in the future.

“It is extremely important that the process for joining together be transparent and inclusive.  We will begin immediately to enlist the aid of members of the local and regional College organization, the County Boards and other members of the various communities to successfully move this process forward,” Miller said.
