Schreiber Foods named UW-Green Bay Recruitment Partner of the Year
The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay’s Office of Career Services has named Schreiber Foods its Recruitment Partner of the Year, continuing a tradition of community partnership that emphasizes hands-on learning.
The award annually recognizes a community member or organization for an exceptional commitment to Career Services’ mission of creating learning opportunities for UW-Green Bay students in their fields of study, whether through internships or other hands-on experiences. Past recipients include Integrys (2007), Schenck Business Solutions (2008), the Arthritis Foundation, NE Chapter (2009) and Glen Tilot with Brown County Human Services (2010).
“Community partnerships are key to our work in Career Services,” said Career Services Director Linda Peacock-Landrum. “In working with these organizations, we collectively provide learning experiences for students via numerous formats. Our students play vital roles as interns, and our graduates become solid, contributing employees who offer a direct benefit to these organizations.”
Schreiber was recognized in a Nov. 2 ceremony that was held in conjunction with an alumni panel, “Alumni Speak: Things I Wish I Knew Before Graduation.” UW-Green Bay accounting graduate and current Schreiber employee Mike Powers, ’00, spoke on the panel, offering his advice and reinforcing the tie between campus and community.
UW-Green Bay and Schreiber Foods enjoy an extensive, ongoing relationship. Schreiber annually participates in numerous events and programs at the University, including job fairs, on-campus interviews, class and student organization presentations, department meetings with faculty and special events. In addition, Schreiber employees have had a significant presence on various UW-Green Bay boards throughout the years.
Schreiber also has a strong UW-Green Bay alumni base, with more than 100 of its employees having attended or graduated from the University. The company hosts about two dozen UW-Green Bay graduates as interns each year, providing practical, hands-on learning opportunities and leadership development.
Headquartered in Green Bay, Schreiber is the world’s largest employee-owned dairy company. Its customers include a variety of restaurants, fast food chains, schools, hospitals, wholesalers and food manufacturers. Schreiber has production and distribution facilities in seven foreign countries, as well as sales partners around the world.
