UW-Green Bay ranks in top tier of ‘U.S. News’ regional universities category

The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay once again is ranked in the top tier of the “Best Regional Universities — Midwest” category of the annual U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges list, set for release Tuesday (Sept. 10).

In its third year of being ranked in the category, UW-Green Bay continued its steady rise to No. 65 (tie), after being ranked No. 66 last year and No. 78 the year before that. Prior to 2011, UW-Green Bay generally was listed in the “Best National Liberal Arts Colleges” category, which ranks schools that emphasize undergraduate education. Colleges in the “Best Regional Universities” category offer a full range of undergraduate programs and provide a certain level of graduate education at the master’s level.

“We are proud to once again be ranked in a category that reflects our role as a comprehensive public university with graduate and professional programs, as well as a full complement of liberal arts majors,” said UW-Green Bay Chancellor Tom Harden. “We are careful not to read too much into any single ranking, and yet we are pleased to be included in this top tier, up a spot from where we were a year ago. We are continuing to build on our strengths, and we look forward to another terrific year at UW-Green Bay.”
