UW-Green Bay’s 6:30 Concert Series returns for fifth year
Line-up includes previous favorites and a season-ending live recording session
GREEN BAY – The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay’s 6:30 Concert Series returns with “Exploring the Clarinet Repertoire,” featuring artists Eric Hansen (clarinet) and Jenny Larsen Page (piano), Friday, Sept 29, 2017. It will be the first of eight performances in the series by UW-Green Bay Music faculty and guests during the 2017-18 academic year.
The 6:30 Concert Series is designed to connect the campus with the community through the exploration of music. Performances feature insightful presentations by performers, composers and special guests. The series offers new perspectives on diverse styles, often exploring the music from multiple angles. All performances take place in the Weidner Center’s Fort Howard Hall. They begin at 6:30 p.m. and last between 60 and 90 minutes. The full schedule is as follows:
- Friday, September 29 — Exploring the Clarinet Repertoire: Performers Eric Hansen, clarinet, and Jenny Larsen Page, piano
- Wednesday, October 18 — Tributo a Ginastera: Performers Jovanni-Rey de Pedro, piano
- Wednesday, November 29 — Miles Davis’ Birth of the Cool in Concert: Recreated by UW-Green Bay faculty and friends
- Monday, February 5 — Duo Piano Recital: Performers Sylvia Hong and Michael Rector
- Friday, February 23 — a very small consortium: An international array of miniature compositions
- Monday, March 5 — Duets, Hosted by Courtney Sherman, soprano, and John Salerno, saxophone
- Thursday, March 29 — Percussion: Classical to Contemporary, Bill Sallak, Percussion
- Thursday, April 26, Gypsy Trip — Live Recording Session, A New CD is Born!
Events are free and open to the public. Donations are gladly accepted.
About Fort Howard Hall
Perhaps the most versatile space in the Weidner Center, the 45’ x 54’ 200-seat, theatre-style hall features a beautiful hardwood floor and retractable seating. The privacy of the space and the hardwood floor make this a perfect location for dinners, receptions, meetings and social dancing. The retractable seating allows the hall to be transformed into a small performance space ideal for recitals and lectures.
