SBDC to partner with Green Bay Chamber, others for nonprofit information event
The UW-Green Bay Small Business Development Center will partner with the Green Bay Area Chamber of Commerce and other entities to present “Bringing Your Nonprofit to Life — And Other Options to Fulfill Your Cause,” a breakfast event beginning at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 13 at the Advance Business & Manufacturing Center, 2701 Larsen Road.
Sponsored by the Greater Green Bay Community Foundation, the event is part of the Advance center’s Innovation Series. It will cover logistical, organizational and legal aspects of starting and maintaining a 501(c)(3), as well as pros and cons of becoming a nonprofit organization. The cost for the event is $10, which includes a continental breakfast.
“Bringing Your Nonprofit to Life” will kick off with breakfast at 7:30 a.m., followed by a program from 8-9 a.m. The panel for the event features the following individuals:
• Mary Guldan-Lindstrom, a Certified Public Accountant with 15 years of experience working with nonprofits. Guldan-Lindstrom is a board member of the United Way and Freedom House, and is prior finance chair at her church.
• Jane Suesy, an attorney, works with churches and nonprofits to incorporate, establish articles and bylaws, and complete the nonprofit IRS application.
• Nancy Armbrust, community volunteer, has more than 30 years of experience bringing together community resources. She is past president of the Brown County United Way and is involved in many area nonprofit organizations. Armbrust is retired from Schreiber Foods.
• Chad Heath, a certified insurance counselor, helps nonprofits and their officers mitigate risk through insurance products and proper risk management. Heath is actively involved with area nonprofits in various capacities, including officer/board roles.
Interested parties can register for the nonprofit event by calling (920) 496-9010 by Tuesday, Aug. 6. In addition to the UW-Green Bay Small Business Development Center, the event is sponsored by Advance, SCORE, the Wisconsin Small Business Development Center Network and the Entrepreneur Resource Center at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College.
