UW System President Cross names five finalists for UW-Green Bay chancellor

University of Wisconsin System President Ray Cross has announced the five finalists for the position of UW-Green Bay’s next chancellor.

A 23-member Chancellor Search and Screen Committee, chaired by UW-Green Bay Music Prof. Cheryl Grosso, recommended the finalists to Cross and a special committee of the UW System Board of Regents.

Each finalist will visit UW-Green Bay during the next 10 days for a series of tours, meetings and interviews. UW-Green Bay will host five public forums during which campus and community members are invited to hear from and weigh in on the candidates. All public forums will be held in Fort Howard Hall at the Weidner Center for the Performing Arts on campus, 2420 Nicolet Drive. The candidates and their public forum times are as follows:

Public forum attendees will have the opportunity to submit feedback at the events or online via the Chancellor Search website, www.uwgb.edu/chancellor/search. Each chancellor finalist will deliver an approximately 20-minute presentation, which will be followed by a 40-minute question-and-answer session. There is no specified topic for the presentation, but committee members expect candidates will share information about their background and qualifications, likely introduce their significant other (if applicable) and speak about their interest in becoming UW-Green Bay’s sixth chancellor.

The upcoming public sessions will be the second group of forums held to gauge campus and community input on UW-Green Bay’s next chancellor. In late January and early February, the Search and Screen Committee held a series of five on-and off-campus sessions to gather thoughts on important considerations for choosing UW-Green Bay’s new leader.

After a series of presentations and personal interviews, UW System President Ray Cross and a special UW System Board of Regents Committee will recommend one individual to the full Board of Regents, which must approve the appointment. That is expected to happen at the board’s June meeting. The special committee is chaired by Regent Tim Higgins of Appleton; others on the committee are Regent Mark Bradley of Wausau, Regent Janice Mueller of Madison, and Regent Chuck Pruitt of Milwaukee.

The Search and Screen Committee consists of 12 UW-Green Bay faculty members, two academic staff members, two classified staff members and two students. Two administrators and three community representatives round out the committee. A full roster is available online.
