Lawton Gallery to present works of graduating seniors beginning April 14
The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay’s Lawton Gallery will present its Senior 1 exhibition, the first of two featuring the works of graduating seniors, from Sunday, April 14 through Thursday, April 25 in Theatre Hall on campus, 2420 Nicolet Drive.
The exhibition will kick off with an opening reception from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, April 14. It will feature a variety of works by seven artists, each of whom is a graduating senior in the Studio Arts or Art & Visual Design program. The artists, their hometowns, majors and exhibits are as follows:
Amber Bennett, Ellison Bay, Art, will exhibit black-and-white paintings that depict bizarre and unknown landscapes in a large format.
Maggie Cuff, Hortonville, Art, will exhibit photographs that revolve around themes of childhood, imagination and the relationship of our bodies to our surroundings.
Elyese Doeren, Green Bay, Art, will exhibit mixed media works that combine textiles, metals and works in ink.
Jennifer Fletcher, Neenah, Art, will exhibit sculptural works that utilize body forms, as well as include elements from nature and found objects.
Andrea Oldenburg, Sturgeon Bay, Art, will exhibit color photographs that explore issues related to identity and humans’ relationship to nature.
Ryan Stewart, Tony, Graphic Design, will exhibit graphic design works that deal with superheroes as football stars.
Kerstin Torgerson, Green Bay, Art, will exhibit five large oil paintings that portray people in her life as imaginary creatures.
Located in Room 230 of Theatre Hall, the Lawton Gallery is open from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday during fall and spring semesters. All gallery events are free and open to the public.
