UW-Green Bay High School Music Camp registration under way

Student enrollment is now open for the annual High School Band, Orchestra and Choral Camp, July 18-24, at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, 2420 Nicolet Drive.

Several camp options are offered for band, orchestra and choir students who will be entering grades 9-12 in the fall 2010. All students will audition for placement on July 18. Weekday classroom sessions start at 8:30 a.m. through 3:40 p.m.

The camp concludes on July 24, with a 9 a.m. concert in the Weidner Center for the Performing Arts, located on the UW-Green Bay campus. Outstanding students will be chosen to receive partial scholarships to the 2011 camp.

Students will participate in full rehearsals, sectionals, a master class, and will choose from an array of ‘choice’ classes including: Camp Chorus, Music Tools, The Total Flutist, World Beat Percussion, Saxophone Studio, Composition, Recording Technology, Heavy Metal (Brass Choir), Northwinds (Clarinet/Double Reed Ensemble), Instrumental Jazz Improvisation, Pop/Studio Strings and Musical Theatre.

Camp teachers will include faculty members from UW-Green Bay and other colleges and universities as well as outstanding teachers from middle and high schools. See the camp website for faculty/staff updates: www.uwgbsummercamps.com.

Students can attend as commuters or as residents living in UW-Green Bay student housing.

The camp fee is $259 for commuters. Resident students will pay $549, which includes instruction, room and board, counselor supervision, a T-shirt and transportation to evening activities.
