True to its Eco-U roots, Electric Vehicle Charging Port Installed on UW-Green Bay Campus

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: January 16, 2025

Green Bay, WI — As the “original” Eco U, UW-Green Bay is proud to contribute to the sustainability efforts of the city it calls home.

Thanks to a charitable donation from an alumnus, faculty, staff and community members will have a new place to charge their electric vehicles.  Two ChargePoint electric vehicle charging stations will be installed on campus. The newly built Cort Condon Hall has the first charger in place and a second charger will be installed in The Weidner’s Lot A in the coming months.

“As more students are bringing EV and PHEV vehicles to campus, it is exciting to be able to give them the opportunity to charge right here on campus and contribute to the sustainability mission of the university,” said Adam Neveau, associate director of Housing and Residential Education.

These new ports elevate the total number of electric vehicle chargers in the Green Bay area to more than 35. By providing these advanced charging solutions to the local community, UW-Green Bay is actively promoting the adoption of electric vehicles, thereby reducing tailpipe emissions and fostering a cleaner environment.

The charging ports located on the UW-Green Bay campus are ChargePoint 6000 Series, with Level 2 AC Charging. All community members are welcome to use the ports, with a small $0.25/kWh fee charged for usage as mandated by Wisconsin. Those interested will find waitlisting features, price information, and customer support on the ChargePoint app.

Any questions about the new charging ports, their usage, or sustainability efforts should be directed to UW-Green Bay Sustainability Coordinator Daniela Beall at sustainability@uwgb.edu. Additional information about ChargePoint can be found on this page.
