UWGB men team taking no chances during COVID-19 basketball season
GREEN BAY – Thirteen is the magic number for the Green Bay men’s basketball team. That’s the amount of games the Phoenix must play during this COVID-19 season, the minimum required to be eligible to compete in the NCAA tournament. “A few weeks ago, you are like, ‘Oh, I think that should be easy,’” UWGB coach Will Ryan said. “But now it’s like, all right, is this going to get worse before it gets better? And how many teams will end up getting shut down to where 13 might be a hard number to get to for some teams?” Fellow Horizon League schools Cleveland State and Robert Morris are scrambling this week after two games between the teams were canceled because of coronavirus protocols.
