UW-Green Bay grad Sass to direct Tony Award comedy at Guthrie


The renowned Guthrie Theatre of Minneapolis will stage the 2013 Tony Award winning new comedy “Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike” next summer, July 19 through Aug. 31. The director will be UW-Green Bay alumnus Joel Sass, Class of 1990. The Christopher Durang play tells the tale of Vanya and his stepsister Sonia, who live a quiet life in a farmhouse in Pennsylvania where they grew up, while their sister Masha travels the world as a movie star. Just as their cleaning woman warns them about terrible events in their future, Masha returns for an unannounced visit with her 20-something boy toy, Spike, and “so begins an unforgettable weekend of rivalry, regret and hilarious racket.” Read more.
