Rector-Hong Piano Duo Recital on Monday, Dec. 12

A program of transcriptions explores an eclectic variety of styles, some in the holiday spirit! Highlights include an arrangement of Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Suite for two pianos, Percy Grainger’s Fantasy on Theme from Porgy and Bess (Gershwin) and a preview of music from UWGB composition professor Michelle McQuade Dewhirst’s new original score to the film Metropolis. Michael Rector and Sylvia Hong have performed around the world as a piano duo and are prizewinners of the Ellis Duo Piano Competition. Rector is Assistant Prof. of Music at UWGB and Hong is Artist in Residence at Belhaven University. The event is 6:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 12 at the Weidner Center and is part of the 6:30 Concert Series.
