Hidden History – The True Story of Alan Turing: Codebreaker. War Hero. Homosexual
Join Interim Pride Center Coordinator Nicole Kurth and Pride Center Intern Matt Bisenius as they shine a light on the hidden history of Alan Turing, a brilliant mathematician and WWII enigma codebreaker. The event is from 4 to 5 p.m. Dec. 8, 2021 and is free and open to the public in the Christie Theatre of the University Union.
Many have not heard of Turing due to the censorship of his historic contributions to the field of mathematics, computing and war time codebreaking, because of his status as an out gay man. Only recently, thanks to books and films such as: The Imitation Game, have some heard his name. Please learn about about this founder of modern day computing and war hero who broke the German enigma code during WWII. Hope to see you there!
