UW-Green Bay’s 2011 Chancellor’s Scholarship Dinner, held Oct. 21, was a record-setter with the largest attendance in the event’s 10-year history. About 250 people filled the elegantly appointed stage of the Weidner Center for the scholarship fundraiser.
Through the years the dinner has raised more than $200,000 for deserving UW-Green Bay students. The event was hosted by the University’s Council of Trustees and Foundation board. Council Vice Chair Ginny Riopelle and the Event Planning Committee members were recognized for organization, planning and decoration.
Foundation and Trustees Board Chairman Lou LeCalsey served as the master of ceremonies and reminded his audience about the need for scholarships to supplement a University that provides higher education opportunities for a large population of first-generation college students.
“UW-Green Bay is truly a place of opportunity for students from this region… and our UW-Green Bay graduates are building better schools, businesses, and communities, close to home,” he said.
Chancellor Harden thanked those in attendance for their continued support of UW-Green Bay and its exceptional students, faculty and staff.
Teenage local opera singer Antastasia Johnson, daughter of Randy and Wendy Johnson, performed and drew a standing ovation.
