By the numbers: Headcount enrollments up, FTEs lagging for 2014

Log readers may recall a couple of weeks back when we told you about preliminary figures showing a projected headcount decline of about 7.5 percent, or 500 enrollments, at UW-Green Bay. We told you at the time that the final headcount tally was likely to be much higher, and figures released Monday (Oct. 20) confirm that prediction. Total enrollment for 2014-15 is 6,921, a number that is up 254 from last year and marks a new headcount enrollment record for the University. This jump is due in large part to the UW System’s Course Options program, which allows high school juniors and seniors to earn concurrent college credit by taking certain approved courses. The picture, however, isn’t quite so positive when it comes to full-time equivalent (FTE) enrollments, a figure that holds more relevance in terms of an institution’s budget and planning. This fall’s full-time equivalent enrollment is 4,992, down about 1.2 percent from 5,051 a year ago, according to UW-Green Bay’s Office of Institutional Research and Assessment.
