Campus mourns passing of retired faculty member Ronald Baba
Ronald K. Baba, 74, a retired professor from UW-Green Bay, passed away Thursday, Oct. 12, 2017. Baba, along with Emeritus Prof. David Damkoehler (pictured together, below), co-founded of the Environmental Design program at UW-Green Bay. Their work, and the work of their students, extended deeply into the community. Baba began his career at UW-Green Bay in September of 1972 as an assistant professor in Community Sciences. He taught classes in both Communication and the Arts and Urban and Regional Studies, especially focusing on environmental design. He took a leave from UW-Green Bay from 1994 to 1996 to serve as interim director of the planning department for the Oneida Tribe. During this time he provided oversight for numerous building projects. He retired as an associate professor in 2011. One of his campus contributions was the famed “Macaroni Hall,” (see photo) which was installed in 1974 and was a campus mainstay until the late 1980s. It led from the library to student services. Private services will be held in California. Ryan Funeral Home, De Pere is assisting the family. See the obituary.
