In Warren Gerds’ columns this week… “In Sheboygan, the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, Sheboygan Campus Fine Arts Gallery will present the exhibition “Process Art Pur Sang: Artwork by Chrisje Sanders.” According to a press release: An artist reception will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 7. Sanders migrated from Helmond, The Netherlands, to the United States in 2006 and became an U.S. citizen in March 2016. Sanders is a full-time artist using assembling, sculpture and paint as her chosen mediums. She received a cum laude bachelor’s degree in communication at Eindhoven, The Netherlands, in 1982 and bachelor’s degree in journalism at Tilburg, The Netherlands, in 1998. ‘My artworks unearth our connection with the natural environment and our artificial interference with it,’ she says. ‘I create art that critically looks at societal structures and systems of injustice. This process is motivated by intentionality to create works that are cognizant of the reality we live in, and driven by my passion to bring awareness to my community and change to society. My personal experiences, my love for humanity and nature, and my hope for world peace is reflected in my art practice. We should all take action in contributing to a more equal and just world and celebrate its already existing natural beauty.’ The Fine Arts Gallery is open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Info: gallery director Dan Smith at smithd@uwgb.edu.
