More on Niedzwiedz, map project
“I have told many people,” says Prof. Bill Niedzwiedz, “that in my 30 years at UW-Green Bay, this was the most intense. Lots of sleep lost…” Niedzwiedz was describing creation of the 15,000-square-foot walkable vinyl map of Vietnam that filled part of the Lambeau Field parking lot. He estimates he contributed 250 hours, perhaps 300, to the effort over several months. He also managed rollout, maintenance and roll-up of the map over the long weekend. The map is now property of the Wisconsin Veteran’s Museum in Madison. Niedzwiedz says various groups have already inquired about using the big map — now inscribed with names, dates and memories from participating vets — at future events.
