Taylor gets laugh with 'growth since college' props
Steven Taylor, class of ’79, was first recruited to UW-Green Bay as a college basketball player. In his commencement address to the May 2010 graduating class, he alluded to a first-rate academic experience and the power of making personal and professional connections during your college years. When he talked about growing as a person in the years that followed graduation, however, he pulled out his mid-1970s Phoenix jersey — now looking many sizes too small — and the short, short mini-trunks that were standard-issue attire for college basketball players at the time. His deadpan, tongue-in-cheek reference to “personal growth” drew a big laugh from the capacity crowd.
