Some colleges bristle at Obama Administration’s initiative on sex assault
As the White House unveiled its latest efforts to combat sexual assault on college campuses, the U.S. Department of Education said Monday that Tufts University is at risk of losing all federal funding because of the way it handles sexual assault and harassment complaints on its campus. Columbia and Harvard universities are also under investigation. In response, some institutions and also the American Council on Education are fighting back, accusing the Department of Education of grandstanding and bullying and claiming that schools acting in good faith find the maze of federal rules poorly written and confusing, difficult to follow, and costly to administer.
