Longtime Gipper’s boss passes away

Tony LeMieux, well known to Phoenix basketball fans of the 1980s and ‘90s as the gregarious proprietor of Gipper’s Sports Bar and Restaurant, died Friday at age 63. Private services will be held at a later date. LeMieux was a supporter of UW-Green Bay Division I athletics. His University Avenue sports bar, one of the first in the area, was a frequent site for fan gatherings, selection shows and game-watching parties when the Phoenix was on the road or playing in tournaments.
