Not to get too far ahead, and acknowledging that an excellent Cyclones team is rightfully favored, but if the Phoenix pulls the upset at Iowa State, their Sweet 16 matchup is likely to be with the Imperial Death Star of women’s college basketball: The Connecticut Huskies. Unbeaten in several years, 70-something straight wins, five all-Americans (and that’s on the bench!), all of that and more. Yes, the Phoenix played the Huskies toe-to-toe for a half in the NCAAs three years ago, but this year’s UConn team is widely regarded as five levels better than even their previous title teams. Talk about your potential all-time David-and-Goliath matchups, and national media hype. The third round in Green Bay’s regional will be played starting Sunday at a neutral site, the University of Dayton, in Ohio.
