New chapbook published by alumnus Casey Thayer

Casey Thayer (English, Creative Writing, ’06) was recently named the winner of the of the Cow Creek Chapbook Contest sponsored by Pittsburg State University for his manuscript Love for the Gun. Rife with imagery drawn from the Northwoods of Wisconsin, it examines masculinity as expressed through hunting culture, heritage, familial traditions, and farm life. Thayer is the author of Self Portrait with Spurs and Sulfur. A recipient of fellowships from Stanford and the Sewanee Writers’ Conference, he has published poetry in AGNI, American Poetry Review, Poetry, and elsewhere. He lives in Chicago and works at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
