Recap: Green Bay men win a thriller last night

The Green Bay men’s basketball team upset top-seeded Valparaiso in overtime, 99-92, to advance to the 2016 Little Caesars’ Horizon League Men’s Basketball Championship Game tonight, March 8, at Joe Louis Arena in Detroit. Facing the Crusaders (26-6) for the third time in the last four years in the postseason, the Phoenix (22-12) knocked down 12 3-point field goals, while setting a program-record 52 attempted free throws, outlasting the defending champion in thrilling fashion. Green Bay advances to tonight’s title game to play No. 3 seeded Wright State (21-12) for the right to punch a ticket to the NCAA Tournament. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. CT and will be broadcast nationally on ESPN. Green Bay athletics posted a short video of the locker room celebration.
