Senior Khalil Small adds Horizon honors to impressive career

After putting together a fantastic senior year, Green Bay men’s basketball player Khalil Small was recognized by being named to the Horizon All-League First Team and All-Defensive Teams, the league announced on Wednesday afternoon. Small, who ranked second in the Horizon League and led the Phoenix in scoring this season with 19.1 PPG in league play, becomes just the fourth player in program history to earn All-Defensive Team honors in multiple seasons (2016-17). The Chicago native also joins Alec Brown (2013-14) and former-teammate Carrington Love (2015-16) as three of the only players in school history to be named First Team and All-Defensive Team in the same season. Currently 15th all-time on the career-scoring list (1,276 points) at Green Bay, Small has scored in double-figures in 30 of 31 games this season and has scored 20 points or more in 12 of those games. He became just the second player in program history earlier this year to accumulate 1,200 points, 500 rebounds and 100 steals in their GB careers, joining Hall of Fame member Jeff Nordgaard to reach those numbers. The Phoenix men play Detroit Mercy, Friday, March 2, 2018 at 4:30 p.m. in the quarterfinal round of the Horizon League Tournament.
