‘Dancing with our Stars 2013’ has campus ties
UW-Green Bay senior Human Biology major, Alyssa Zellner, will be paired with Rick Bondowski, regional retail director for Associated Bank, at the fifth year of “Dancing with our Stars 2013” (read more about the event) on Feb. 23. The event, which features nine “star dancers” including Donald and Betina Driver, will be held at the Radisson Hotel and Conference Center in Green Bay. Dance partners will compete to raise the most money for the Red Cross.
Zellner first started ballroom dancing as a freshman in college and has participated in dance competitions across the state. This is her third year dancing for the American Red Cross. In a bio for the Red Cross, Zellner said she wanted to learn how to ballroom dance from a young age, and now she is grateful to support the Red Cross as a dance partner for the event.
There’s a second UW-Green Bay student involved in the competition in a similar capacity. Taryn Oleson is in her second year serving as a “pro dancer.” She’s a junior from Delafield, majoring in Environmental Policy and Planning with minors in Environmental Science and Public Administration. She’s also president of the Ballroom Dance Club on campus and active with SGA and PEAC.
UW-Green Bay alumni who are also star dance partners for the event include Jay Morth ’11 and Michael Witte ’08. Erica VanBoxel ’10 is one of the star dancers for the event.
