Cabinet hears update on flex hours, telecommuting… and a plug from Harden
One of the primary issues discussed at Tuesday’s open Cabinet meeting was utilization of UW-Green Bay’s new policies on telecommuting and alternative work patterns. In response to questions, Human Resources Director Sheryl Van Gruensven reported that about a half-dozen employee applications had been approved since the University formalized and publicized the policies last October. (The changes were part of the “Quick Fix” series of initiatives authorized by Chancellor Thomas Harden.) Harden shared his sense that the University community would benefit from a reminder, to all supervisors and employees, that such flexibility is available. He again encouraged staff members, supervisors and managers to explore such options on a case-by-case basis if the arrangement makes sense for both the institution and employee. Details of the policies and application procedures are online at the Human Resources website.
