Recap of Friday’s conference on high-impact learning

From first-year seminars to study abroad, certain college and university practices are making a difference in the lives of students here and across the country, a national expert told UW-Green Bay faculty, staff and students during a Friday (Jan. 20) conference. Jillian Kinzie, associate director at the Indiana University Center for Postsecondary Research, was the keynote speaker for the event, which focused on what are widely termed “high-impact practices” — those shown to make a positive difference in students’ college careers. UW-Green Bay is doing a lot of great work around these initiatives, Kinzie said, but more remains to be done. She shared her thoughts on improving the quality of high-impact practices, and on bringing more students into the fold. See story, photos
